Wingmates — go flying together

Wingmates — go flying together

Some people like flying alone — to switch off and enjoy the quiet.

But often it is nicer (and safer) with friends, or at least knowing who else is out.

With the new Wingmates feature you can see in Sidekik who is going flying in the next few days. You can join or share a plan of your own — without a group chat or endless coordination.

Why it helps

Flying together is safer, you learn from each other, and you can better read how conditions develop. It is also more fun to share the day at the landing field.

Wingmates makes those days easier and more spontaneous — with people you know or pilots in your area.

How it works

  1. Decide:

Say which day you want to fly. Once you have voted, you can see what the pilots you follow are planning.

  2. See other plans:

Open Wingmates to see who has similar plans. You need your own vote for that.

  3. Join or start one:

Join in or invite others — simply.

Who it is for

Wingmates is for anyone who wants to go flying without asking in three groups — and often ending up with nothing. And for pilots who decide late — but still want to know who is at launch today or tomorrow.

FAQ

Who can see that I am going flying?

Your followers can see how you voted. They can see your plan and join it. If you voted “Yes” for today, that is reflected in the number on the start-screen widget — and sometimes your profile picture (very small) is among the 4 preview images.

Why do I have to vote to see other plans?

Give and take :-)

Do I have to give a reason if I am not flying?

No. But you can tell people you are unsure about the weather, or you have no time.

Can I invite other pilots to my plan?

Not yet.
